Khabargaon journalists say they were attacked covering CJP protest at Jantar Mantar

Khabargaon, a digital ground-reporting outlet, published a late-night video on 22 July in which two of its journalists say they were heckled and attacked while covering the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest near Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

What we can verify

• Outlet and video. Khabargaon (@KhabarGaon) uploaded a ~30-minute ground piece titled CJP Protest में 'Godi Media' बोल कर हमारे पत्रकारों से मारपीट, पर ग्राउंड रिपोर्टिंग जारी रहेगी (YouTube).
• When and where (per outlet). The video description states that around 11:45pm on 22 July, while covering the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, reporters Satyam and Mohit were heckled and attacked by a mob near the protest site. Host Nikhil interviews both on camera.
• Framing used on the ground. The title and description say the journalists were targeted after being called "Godi Media" — a pejorative used against outlets perceived as pro-government. That is Khabargaon's own characterisation of what was shouted at them.
• Topic lock. The clip is explicitly about coverage of the ongoing CJP / student protest at Jantar Mantar, not an unrelated political rally.

What remains unverified

• Independent confirmation. At the time of writing, we have not located a second independent newsroom (police statement, hospital record, or Tier-1 print/wire copy) that separately confirms injuries, arrests, or the size of the group involved. Treat scale, medical outcome, and any named attackers as [unverified] outside Khabargaon's first-person account.
• Who attacked whom. Whether the attackers were protesters, counter-protesters, bystanders, or others is [unverified] beyond the reporters' on-camera account.
• Police case. No FIR number or official Delhi Police briefing is cited in the video description we reviewed.

Why this matters

Attacks on working journalists at a prolonged protest site are a press-safety story even when the only primary source is the newsroom that was hit. Readers should watch the primary clip and wait for multi-source confirmation before treating injury counts or perpetrator identity as settled fact.
