CJP issues 7 demands after Satya Niketan PG collapse kills 6

A five-storey student hostel came down in seconds in south Delhi's Satya Niketan on Sunday afternoon. By Monday morning, six people were dead. The building, run as a private paying-guest facility called Hostel Daze, was packed with students from Delhi University's South Campus colleges nearby.

"There should be an independent criminal investigation, not just against the owner, but on the larger nexus between such owners and people who are in power, politicians, because of whose protection such illegal constructions and illegal activities proliferate in these areas," CJP spokesperson Saurav Das told PTI.

Speaking to ANI, Das went further: "In the true sense, the people sitting in the government have left the youth to live like cockroaches, and that is why the youth is awake today." CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, in a post on X, questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi — who had visited Delhi University a day earlier — asking how long students must "pay the price for failing infrastructure."
