Kerala Police Probe RSS Leader T G Mohandas Over Jantar Mantar Firing Remarks

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala ordered a police investigation Monday into objectionable remarks allegedly made by RSS leader T G Mohandas targeting students who protested at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over the NEET question paper leak.

Cyber Cell Inspector General of Police P Prakash was directed to lead the probe following formal complaints from youth organisations and political leaders.

In video clips circulated online, Mohandas purportedly stated that if entrusted with managing the Jantar Mantar demonstration demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, he would have imposed a curfew within a four-kilometre radius.

"The crowd would be asked to disperse. The announcement would be made three times through public address systems. Then, there would be firing. People will run in a chaotic and hurried manner. Some people will die, others will get injured. Within four hours, the situation will be under control. The bodies will be moved to hospital," Mohandas purportedly said.

In a second clip, Mohandas is allegedly heard advocating the removal of police from the protest zone, claiming that leaving the area to demonstrators would result in rapes and murders.

Political reactions and complaints

All India Youth Federation (AIYF) leader T T Jismon and the Students' Federation of India (SFI) submitted formal complaints to Kerala police. The AIYF stated that Mohandas's remarks reflected an authoritarian mindset intended to suppress peaceful democratic protests through violence and fear.

Congress condemned the statements, calling them unacceptable inciteful rhetoric against young citizens and demanding swift legal action.
