Rampura school bulldozed after CJP expose, rebuild begins

The old building of Government Primary School, Rampura (Kanwarpura) in Jaipur's Bagru Assembly constituency was bulldozed on Wednesday, September 2, in the presence of district administration and education department officials — and work on a replacement has started.

The demolition follows a visit on August 21 by a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team, which was attacked by villagers while travelling to inspect the school as part of the party's 'School Thik Karo' campaign. Stones were thrown, women were beaten, and car windows were smashed. Several activists were taken to SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, who was present during the visit, posted on X: "This is the same Rampura school that was running in the buffalo shed. Work has now started there. During the inspection, stones were thrown at us, women were beaten, and car windows were smashed. But when a good school is built for our children, it will all be worth it!"

What we can verify

• The Indian Express reported on August 21 that approximately 40 CJP activists, including Ranka, visited Rampura Kanwarpura village and were met with resistance from residents; the injured were taken to SMS Hospital. A local, Manna Lal, told the paper the school had operated out of a dilapidated cowshed.
• The school had been declared unsafe after a technical survey in September 2025 and was taken out of use before the CJP visit, Times Now reported.
• On September 2, the old building was demolished by district officials. A new building is sanctioned at Rs 18 lakh — Rs 12 lakh from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (sanctioned August 13) and Rs 6 lakh from the MLA fund, Times Now reported.
• Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa said on September 2 that all dilapidated government schools would be restored. The state Assembly was told in August that 611 government schools function without their own buildings. The state has committed Rs 2,500 crore annually for school building work, amounting to Rs 12,500 crore over five years, IANS reported.

What remains unverified

• The precise circumstances of the alleged assault on Ranka and the exact number of injuries beyond those hospitalised at SMS. These require police statements or ground reporting.
• Whether the Rajasthan government's restrictions on outsiders entering schools were a formal order or a de facto condition.
• CJP's characterisation of the rebuild as a campaign "victory" — the demolition was a government decision, and the timeline of sanctions predates the CJP visit in at least one instance (the DMFT approval of August 13).
